What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NYC
I don't know if its law or local custom, but on alternate-side-of-the-street parking days, people on the forbidden side of the street double park along all of the streets in my neighborhood of Washington Heights (a traffic cop once told me its allowed in certain portions or the area and only on non-double-yellow-lined streets). Thing is, if your double parked for a second past when alternate-side is over, they can issue you a double parking ticket. So, I came out 10 minutes from when alternate-side ended and the guy was issuing me a ticket. Now, I don't suggest there be an indefinite amount of time to move your car, but there should be some leeway, especially since the city requires our patience often enough.
Also, since someone stole my sideview mirror, they issued me a ticket for "missing equipment".
My real question is, do I have to pay at all? The car is registered and insured to a New Jersey address-
Total tickets: $160.
