What are the laws regarding renting a room in my home without a lease? I recently rented a room in my home to a family member. The entire time that they were there, they were responsible for paying the utilities and buy their groceries. They paid on a sporadic basis and I didn't want to kick them out because they had an infant and I knew they would be homeless. They left the home and moved into their own place leaving me with tons of bills. What are my choices?

ASSuming you are in the US, I'd have to say sue the bad person in small claims court for what you feel you are owed. I hope you can prove it...
