What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NC
I have lost over $50K on internet poker over the past 6 months. It has ruined my life and put me in tremendous debt. They did nothing to help in obviously seeing that i have a gabling problem. When i tried to cash out recently they ran me in circles with documentation trying to stall my withdrawal..and then i ended up losing the money. Do i have any legal recourse? Thanks

The Wire Act is the statute most often cited as making on-line gambling a federal offense. The operative subsection reads: "Whoever being engaged in the business of betting or wagering knowingly uses a wire communication facility for the transmission in interstate or foreign commerce of bets or wagers or information assisting in the placing of bets or wagers on any sporting event or contest, or for the transmission of a wire communication which entitles the recipient to receive money or credit as a result of bets or wagers, or for information assisting in the placing of bets or wagers, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."

The online casino is probably neatly tucked away outside of U.S. jurisdiction. However, some players in the U.S. have been convicted under this federal law, and others have not. If you bring this out in the open, you risk prosecution under this federal law and any applicable state laws. This is not a winner for you.... either.

No legal recourse at all. You played...you will pay!!!

You really need to check yourself...You're not a baby and no one should be held accountable to see that you "obviously" have a gambling problem.

You can't stop yourself from clicking that mouse...stay off your computer.

I can't wait to see what advice you get. You see, my dad was an alcoholic. He drank my entire life and it really screwed me up and required several years of therapy to get over. I want to sue the liquor store where he bought all his beer, after all, couldn't they see he had a problem? I was even in the truck with him when he bought beer at the drive through window and cracked one open right there! How much do you think I can win?

Also, I'm fat. I'm fat because I like to eat too many things that are high in calories and sugar. How do I go about suing the grocery store? I mean, couldn't they see I have a problem? I'm obviously fat and I obviously have unhealthy foods in my cart. Why didn't they stop me or offer some help or something?

It's definitely the fault of the online gambling site. You hold no responsibility whatsoever. Sue them for everything! You're sure to win!
