What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wisconsin

2 Questions really.

1) Son is 18, still a senior in HS, and moved from Fathers primary residence to my residence in September. Father has had a joint savings account with son and refuses to sign off on the account till son is 21. Is there anything Son can do to demand this account be turned over to him?

2) Son wants to use this account to pay for the registration and insurance on a car that I signed the title over to Son almost a year ago. He and his father have made some repairs on the car, but the father refuses to let the son have the money from the account to register the car and put insurance on it in order to look for a job. Father wants the car out of his yard since son is living with me, but he knows full well it can't be in my apartment complex lot unless it's registered. Jobs are real hard to come by around here and the public transport system only runs till 6PM M-F and not al all on weekends when son would be more available for work. Father demands the son have a job first, then will hand over the title. It's not Fathers Car to withhold.

What can my son do to get what is rightfully his?

Sure, go pick up his car.
As for the money in the savings account, it sounds like sonny will have to wait a few more years...maybe YOU can give him the money?

1) Father will not turn over the title.

2) If I had the money to pay for it I would. I was downsized out of my job 2 months ago, and UEI doesn't go very far while I'm job hunting.

Father doesn't necessarily have to turn over the title as son's name is on it and he can get a replacement title. Nor does dad have to turn over money for registration and insurance. Son owns a car and by law he has to have it insured. The fact that it doesn't and the car is in son's name and son is an adult means son is breaking the law.

Title was only signed over...not filed with the DMV.

I understand Father doesn't have to pay anything. Son just wanted to know if he had any rights to the savings account.

Thanks all.

If the vehicle was never titled in Dad's name, and you actually put your son's name on it as the person receiving it, go over with the police(they can check the VIN and see who the last registered owner was, and if Dad can't produce a title showing otherwise, it's still YOUR car) and a tow-truck and move it.

How can Dad say he won't hand over the title of the car but want's it moved at the same time?

And Og, that's only if it is tagged, or payments are being made on it.

son has no rights to savings account unless his name is on it. sorry. too bad. it's a gift to give if dad wants to give it when he wants to give it. can't force him to give a gift.

Son's name and fathers name are on the savings account.

I signed the title over to my son and then had him sign as reciever, so father couldn't sign it to himself.

Son's name is on it, as it's joint, Isabella... Is it Dad AND Son or Dad OR Son?
