My son who is a senior showed up at his homecoming football game intoxicated. This was noticed by the assistant Principal and two school police officers. He was one of 8 kids in this condition. The other 7 parents were contacted to come and get their kids. No one called me to notify me that he was drunk. Instead, a lady who said she new me told the three men that she would take him. I never met this lady and she is not on the list of contacts on record at the school. She took him to the parking lot and left him. She obviously wanted to help him get out of trouble. He then got in his car and drove away from the school. I am furious that they didn't inform me that my son was drunk and that they let him drive away in that condition. Do I have any legal right against the school for their neglect?

Without injury, you likely have no legal action you can take against anyone, but you can certainly express your displeasure at the school's handling of the affair and point out that if they released a minor without proper regard for state law or school policy on such matters, they could have been liable for some pretty hefty damages had he been involved in a collision or some other unfortunate event.
