my PM has been activate

and i didnt say i was walking away.
You don't seem to be understanding yet. Just about everyone one that offers advice here is extremely knowledgeable in what they are talking about. They know how Judges react, how court proceedings go and what is good and what is bad.

The reason they have stated to grow up is because this is not a hill to die on. You already stated you "have enough going on in your life", so why would you want to make a simple last name a battle on top of everything else? It's a name! When she turns 18 she can make the decision to change it if she wishes.

Don't change it because you want to try and erase her father as much as you can at any opportunity you can. He may have made mistakes and hasn't been consistent but apparently he's trying to get back into her life again and that should count for something. So at least maybe this time it will get better and a little girl can grow up knowing that both her Mom and her Dad love her and care about her.

I agree. Reading your other post, dad is now back in the picture. Why antagonize the current situation? A name is a name. I have a HORRID relationship with my ex, yet when he asked back when child was two to have his name, I thought "why not?"...and why not...it affects absolutely nothing as far as I can see...its a name, moms name and dads name. You are not sole parenting here...dad is also part of the childs life. I would give this one up.

since i had no address for him the courts told me to send it certified mail to his last known address and to have it published in the newspaper, which i did.

ive come to terms i most likely wont get the name change, but that i will get the hyphenated name maybe, hopefully.

Who at the courts? What paper did you publish it in? You are going to have issues especially now that you KNOW where he is living.
