What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina

I posted this earlier but not sure what happened to it. A female applied for a custodial job at a school and was told that interviews would be held today and when she gave them her name, they told her that they would be hiring a man for this position, no females, so they wouldn't take her name for interview. There was nothing about this in the job inquiry. Can they do this? TIAWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

It's discrimination not to give someone a "crack" at a job because they're female. She has to consider, though, if she'd like to work for people with that kind of mentality.

So, since they wouldn't even take her name nor give her the opportunity to interview, that is discrimination? Good point about not wanting to work for people like that. Unfortunately, in this day and age, some have to take what they can get.

As I told you in the thread that disappeared, she is free to report it to the EEOC and see what they say.

CBG, your response was to OP's post in the Hiring/Firing forum. The post in THIS forum was a duplicate and I reported it. And I'm about to do it again. Don't start multiple threads with the same question.
