I received a double parking ticket in brooklyn while running inside an orthopedic surgeon's office to pick up a set of x-rays. After i picked up the x-rays, which literally took two minutes, I was met by my car with a meter maid printing out my 100% accurate ticket. The only reason i double parked was because i was rushing to make an appointment with a hand specialist for a pre surgery visit (that if i missed would have pushed off the surgery for another 7 days) and he wanted to take a look at a copy of the x-rays, which i had to get once again because they were misplaced by his office. The next day i had surgery on my hand to remove an incredibly painful cyst.
I guess the question i have is whether or not the court will have any type of sympathy or compassion for my situation, given that the ticket was the result of a personal health situation. I am not questioning the validity of the ticket, just would love to not pay the 115 dollar fine. I don't know if this helps or hurts my case, but i am 19 years old and a full time student.
