What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CALIFORNIA

My past 2 paychecks have been missing $2. It's not much but I just want to know what's going on. When I asked my employer about it, she just handed me the YTD summary of deductions and asked me to go talk to my accountant.

Did income tax went up? What could be happening here?

what do you mean $2 is missing? Are you being fully paid for all of your hours worked? Is the net income on your check simply $2 less that what it was a couple weeks ago?

Yea... my 2 past checks have $2 (NET) less than the other ones... I was assuming it was because of a possible raise on income tax but my employer doesn't know... so she says...

In small companies who use payroll processing services or even an accountant, sometimes they really don't know or don't pay attention. They just expect the preparer to keep current on the tax rates and assume they have done so.

And, just to confirm...look at your paystub from THREE checks ago and figure out what's different NOW.
