What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA
In reading through others posts I see the plain and simple facts about step-parent, fiance, bed buddy rights as being NADA....correct?
If one of the biological parents has been 100% NOT in the childrens life for a number of years and the step, bed buddy whatever....has been raising the child/ren for all these years along with the one biological parent they still have nada to say in court or otherwise? What if that step, bed buddy... has been financially supporting said children for all those years? Still nothing? Just curious about this....interested in knowing the facts.
My bed buddy and I decided many years ago to live as a family under one roof while I stay home with the children and he support us. (He's one heck of a guy I tell you) I've been looking for work for the past year....a job that can afford child care and something to bring home as well. His work has been slow and he can not help in that arena.
Anyhow, he has always stayed out of any and all court stuff between my Ex and I. When I come home from a hearing he simply asks me how my day was.
Although not a LEGAL anything....you'd think that somebody whos raised my children along side of me for many years would have a right to.....I don't know....have a say in something at some point.
As I said, not an issue here, just interested in the whys of this as far as the courts go.
