She needs to speak to the police. They're trying to get the full picture of what happened in the accident.
I told Mom that as well, I just wanted to check for other opinons since I am not a Lawyer. I told Mom that they would want to know if there was any other history, what their demeanors were that day before they left (the accident occured about 4 miles from Mom's house)
She is entitled to feel that way, but the choice is not her's to make. It will be up to the prosecutor. Mom can certainly express her views on this, and the prosecutor should take that into consideration. If there was a crime committed, however, the prosecutor may choose to take action.
I told Mom this as well, and she understands that the State may still file charges. Especially if they have discovered any drugs or anything of that nature in his system. Although, I do understand that she is not wanting an eye for an eye, for this I think it takes great strength.
Yeah, well, this adult (not child) caused a life to be lost. It was his actions that led to that loss of life. There are consequences to those actions.
Yes, this I know. We have lost a piece of our family. Although he was legally an adult, in my opinion he was still just a boy. I have a son that is 17 1/2 and even though he will be 18 soon, he is still a child (although not legally) He still has alot of growing up to do, just as these other 2 boys did.
And I've seen people, who caused wrecks that took lives, continue to party, drive wrecklessly, etc. This guilt may not last long.
You may very well be correct on this, I hope not.....but, it wouldn't surprise me either.
That's up to the Court, not mom.
I agree, although she will express her wishes.
If this person takes his punishment like an adult and learn from these experiences, he can still go on to have a successful life. He won't be going into the military, I'd bet.
No, I don't believe he will either.....at this point, they are not sure he will survive. If he does, he has very extensive injuries to overcome.....some of which may be life altering.
She needs to talk to the police so that the prosecutor can determine what actions are necessary.
