What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
I've just had to serve a 3 day notice on my tenant, and will proceed with Unlawful Detainer suit soon unless he vacates the property or pays rent. I will likely file in Pro Per, with the help of a Paralegal and further unbundled services by an attorney as required.
I was told by a friend that he was not able to garnish wages following the judgment he gained against his former tenant....that is was not allowable in civil cases like this. His attorney gave him this advice.
I've searched the forum and find one thread where CA LL refers to the consequences of not paying rent, and garnishing wages is one listed. I'm thinking that my friend misunderstood the advice he was given????
Is it legal to garnish wages on a Judgment for Unlawful Detainer in California?
