You don't need free legal advice... you need an attorney. NOW.

What is the crime? Has he requested a public defender?

How could anyone here possibly advise you? You didn't list the state, statute your child is being charged under or the circumstances of the incident.

So he's an all around good kid , but allegedly committed a " Serious Felony Crime " .

Hire him a good well known criminal defense attorney .

If he or you can not afford one , he will be appointed one .

In the mean time he can't be a good sports kid .

You forgot he was a quarterback.

Sorry, but I am a little sick and tired of hearing, "Well, yes... he did rape/rob/steal/batter someone, but he is REALLY a good kid and plays football and no one wants to take his whole life away."

I didn't see in the OP's post where any of that was stated other than it was a first Offense.

Anyway, If you cannot afford an attorney he will be provided one but it would be in his best interest to have a good one by his side.

Unless his crime had something to do with being offsides, this statement

they want to try him as an adult he is a senior in high school also on the varsity football team as a quarterback
means "my son is really a good boy."
