PA - My son and his girlfriend have a four month old. They normally spend half the week here and half the week at her mom's house. My son is very unhappy in the relationship and is upset that he won't be able to see the baby if they split up. What is the likelihood he can get shared custody? (both parents equally share the legal and physical custody of the child) The baby is only four months but the mother does not breast feed or work.

Once he's legally established as Dad he'll generally get joint legal custody and ample visitation at the very least. Get him to file asap.

since everyone else beat me to it......i'll say this. that matter not. even if mom was breastfeeding, dad would still be entitled to ample visitation.

mom working or not, does nothing for dad.

however....i will throw this out there. given the whole "just had a baby" i have always read and been advised to never make drastic decisions until the baby is at least one year old. by then, the newness of a baby, the exhausting adjustment of a new baby and erratic sleep schedule, hormones, temperments, load of overwhelming responsibility has worn a bit off, then re-evaluate the situation and see if he still wants to terminate the relationship.
