I believe that is known as "fascism" in most developed countries.

Oh, no! You've caught me! I'm a horrible pedophile looking to exploit this boy! (sarcasm)

He's a friend of mine, and I've known him for quite some time. Not in real life, you understand. He and I share similar interests, and as such are members of the same online message board.
Wonder how the DoD would feel about your friendship with a 14 year old boy.? Especially if you are objecting to said boy's parents from PARENTING.

Jesus Christ, I come back to see the madness that ensued after I clearly left and frankly, I'm impressed.

I didn't think it was possible for people to have such a poor understanding of what a proper argument is.

Argument is not presenting your own opinion as fact. Argument is proving your statements with verifiable evidence. I got one piece of evidence. I'm not a lawyer, I'm not in law school; I don't have access to court records as easily as some of you might.

You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

And for the last godamn time, I'm not involved with him sexually, you perverts.
no no. mom and dad have control over the computer until he is 18. even if bill gates gave him the computer personally.

whether that computer was logged on or not.
That is probably the dumbest statement I have ever had the displeasure of hearing, so I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were drunk at the time of posting. If not, then I would seriously re-evaluate your understanding of what "possession" means. If I buy something with my money, then there's no way in Hell I'm allowing anyone else to use it without my permission. Parents, police, FBI, whoever. That's why I use drive encryption: in case freaks like you decide that my property is yours to snoop through.

I already did. Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article XII.
After reading through that, I've come to the decision that this applies to adults, as it grants quite a few "rights" that minors certainly don't have under US law. One example is the following:

[quoute] (1) Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.[/quote]

In my state, you must be at least 16 to work. Actually, if one is 15 years and 6 months, they may works with HEAVY restrictions, such as less than 15 hours per week, and never being allowed to work after 7pm regardless of whether or not it's a school night. If you are younger than that, but older than 14, you may hold employment ONLY IF one of your parents is the employer. Any younger than that, you may not hold any employment whatsoever.

Perhaps we should look at this another way.

Since, according to Mass law, parents CAN be held criminally responsible for their child's activities until that child reaches 18, a defense can be made that it is then those self same parents' right to make sure that crimes are not being committed by that child.

Since the child's penalty can be forcibly assumed by the parents (to pay a fine and, in some cases, lose that child for, say, not stopping a sexual relationship with a pedophile), courts have given parents a great deal of latitude in investigations in their own home.

Parents have been invading the privacy of children for years. This is not legally different from reading a diary or searching a child's room for pot. I know of not one case where a parent was successfully sued for such an invasion.

I do, however, know of several hundred cases where parents were disciplined for NOT knowing what was happening in their own home concerning their minor children.

Therefore, the legal precedent is clear... parents must, under penalty, know what is going on.

Now, before you tell me how the French, Germans or Laotians think of this, realize that such things are not legally binding in this country.

Here is a little research job for you... you seem to belittle anyone that doesn't do their homework. Find me one case where the United Nation's Declaration of Human Rights preceded ANY law in this country.. in case you were asleep in civics class, the Constitution is the supreme law of the land... I see no documentation or court record showing that supremacy has been revoked.

Until you can show differently, let's just keep our thoughts around relevant law, okay?

Oh, and parents can also legally restrict their minor child's association with anyone they deem appropriate... even if it offends your delicate sensibilities - or even mine, for that matter.

I don't think it matters how one looks at it. He didn't get it before, he doesn't get it now, he never will get it. This is someone who called Izzy's statement (that this minor's parents have control over his computer) "dumb" because the OP, an adult, would restrict access of his own computer. He can't even (or refuses to) understand the concept of minor vs. adult.

Chesamo, it's very easy to settle this once and for all. If you're so convinced you're right and we're wrong, you go right ahead and take all your arguments and all those facts you think you know and try to do something on this boy's behalf. Call a lawyer. Call the ACLU. Call CPS. Call the US Supreme Court. Call Eric Holder. Instead of blowing around a lot of hot air on the 'net, use that energy to make sure this boy's "rights" are enforced.

And, of course, come back here and let us know how that works out for you.
