Can Child Support Extend Through College?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OREGON

I was divorced in California approximately 12 years ago. The child support order says that child support will end when our sons turn 18 or graduate high school.

My children and I moved to Oregon six years ago. My eldest son will be attending college soon. In Oregon, child support is paid until the age of 21, if the child attends college.

My question is: Can I have the child support order modified in an Oregon court (to extend child support through age 21) since we've resided in Oregon for the past six years?

Then no. You are not allowed to "shop around" for a court that will give you a better deal. Your child will have to start having to take responsibility for his/her financial self-support as MANY other University students do...Including my own child. My DD works TWO jobs, is a full time student at a top university and has never been off the Dean's list. It can be done.
