What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? GA

 My partner is 30 yrs old now and never really knew her biological father. She knows who he is and when she was 17 he wanted to meet her but after a couple of times meeting her he disappeared and had nothing to do with her again. Her mother never claimed child support, and she has no contact with him. She has always felt that this was not fair and not her fault that he never wanted anything to do with her. She is wondering if as an adult there is any way to collect back child support which she wants to use for her college education. Does she have any rights in regards to this arrearage or is it too late? Would it be worth it to go consult with a lawyer?

legally speaking, your friend/partner doesn't stand a chance to collect a dime. not since the day she was born and not till the day she dies. i'm sorry, but your partner got a crappy father.

unless there is a court order for child support, MOM has no chance at collecting any arrears either.

Child support is paid to the parent or caregiver or a child. Since mom never filed for child support mom has no right to ask now. Your partner never had any right to ask and never will.

It would not be worth spending any money on an attorney, unless you are dead set on throwing away your money.
