He was adopted at birth and is fully covered by the state 100% with no copays until he is 18 years old....but if for some reason they don't cover everything there is no way that we can financially pay for this.
My children were also adopted from the state and RTC was not covered. We had to move mountains to get my daughter's placement funded.

Your rights are limited due to his conviction. Did you have an attorney for your son? I would discuss your options with her. Are you challenging the conviction or only the sentence? Are they saying he would be in the RTC longer than he would be in jail or is he serving the same number of days?

no attorney....cant afford one. the sentence....its too harsh for a first time offense and with no chance to comply. he was only suppose to be in juvi for 20 days....never said he was going to "jail".....he is doing wonderfully in juvi so him working at good behavior is going to be punnished and not rewarded....thats another issue. the po is reccomending RTC for 9-12 months because the facility closer to us is long term....this seems rediculous....almost like she is just trying to put him somewhere other than in her caseload.

Or, that she is trying to get him the treatment that his condition requires.

He has proven himself a danger to himself and to others. You did not give the extent of the assault.

If this was a particularly heinous or vicious assault, this may be appropriate. We don't know enough here to really help much.
