What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Tempe, AZ

My ex recently had his account closed on him, I havent been with him for 2 years and was never able to find him to try to take my name off the account. The account is with Wells Fargo and I went to the branch 3 different time to get my name removed. Now that the account is closed they are contacting me to pay his debt, Is there any way out of this?

Sure - pay the debt and sue the ex.

But only for debts incurred prior to being an ex and notifying the bank of the status change. Any debts incurred by the ex after that are accepted by the bank with full knowledge that the other party is no longer a part of the account regardless of how they record it.
