What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington

We have the most ridiculously loud neighbors. The boy (about 10) is constantly yelling and screaming swear words, slamming doors, and banging on the walls. His mom yells back at him and sometimes his two little sisters scream bloody murder. The first time we complained we were told that the other neighbors had complained as well and that they were on a 10-day seize and desist notice. The second time we were told that the kid had emotional problems and that they wanted us to report back if things got any worse. They did... the third time they told us their hands were tied because he has an emotional disability and offered to move us into another apartment in the complex (we have 2 months left on our lease and no plans to stay in this complex)

They then offered to let us out of our lease which would be fine except the holidays are coming up and we just will not have the time. Is there anything we can do? It just seems unfair that we're the ones who are being put out by all of this. I plan on calling our state's landlord tenant hotline later this week for more information but I was hoping for a response in the meantime.

Thanks for taking the time to read and my apologies for the length of this post.

Yep. You can accept their offers to resolve this problem.

It sounds like the landlord is making the best efforts to resolve this matter.... and you simply can't force them to give you what you want.

thanks jetx,
I was afraid that was the case. While I appreciate their offer, it's just really bad timing for us. I guess we will wait it out until January and then hopefully move into a house or duplex where there is less chance of having to deal with neighbors.

When I get families that are inconsiderate of their neighbors, I get rid of them. Their having kids is not a license to trample over your rights of quiet enjoyment.
I am going yo suggest that your landlord is not doing his job.
