You're missing the point. Yes, there is a handle that is for the convenience of carrying the heater when it's cool. Otherwise the sensitive parts of the unit would be damaged should you decide to carry it by the heating coils. There is a chance you would drop it if you carried it by the propane cylinder. So, Coleman put a handle on the unit.

The reason we're not "helpful" is because the majority of people have the common sense to know this unit is not designed to be moved when it is hot.

Look - you don't like the unit. Return it, sell it, or quit using it.

Just the fact that you said "heating coils" proves you don't know what the hell you are talking about. No such thing has ever been part of any propane heater. Obviously you've never used the heater I'm talking about, so you really have nothing to say here....

Still wrong. The handle, and the heater itself, is designed to be moved around WHILE IN USE! Do you need to call Coleman and ask for christ sake?

The handle is for moving it while cool. The MANUAL, the authoritative document on the correct operation, makes that clear as a bell.

The manual further makes it CLEAR that the unit is not moved while burning (in use) or even when hot.

If you want a heater that WON'T burn you on the handle while being moved hot / lit... buy a model of heater that was designed to be moved when hot or lit

That the carrying handle / metal right next to the carrying handle get hot enough to burn you when it is lit / hot is pretty much PROOF that the unit is not intended to be moved or carried when hot or lit, and is not indicated by the directions.

I think you got all the advice you need. You were told to return it or call Coleman and ask for a replacement, possibly even just sell it. The fact is that if you try to sue Coleman you are going to look like a complete moron in a courtroom. Pick up your phone, dial Coleman, explain that your heater does not work as you expected it to and that you'd like to exchange it for a different model. How is that difficult? (You could also use auction sites or a classified ad to simply sell it and use that money for a new heater.)

The product is not dangerous when used AS DIRECTED in the manual.

The replies were not what you wanted to hear. That is NOT the same as being unhelpful or wrong. Sorry you didn't get the answer you were hoping for. Please apply for a refund on your way out.

I haven't driven a bulldozer; but, I know to get out of its way when its heading in my direction. And I bet that can't be found in the instructions.
