What is the name of your state (Florida)?

I have an 11 year old son. At least I am told he is my son. I have always been skeptical if he was mine or not I know I wasn't the only one she was with. From the time he was born she had been taking him over to my parents house who practically raised him the first 6 or 7 years of his life. I went to prison when he was around 2 years old. Let me clarify one thing my parents just wanted me to settle down back then they wouldn't of cared if that was my baby or not they were all about you need to settle down raise this child with his mother. A few years into my prison sentence the child's mother claims she needs medicaid on him and can't do it without establishing who his father is she acted like it was life or death and just so I didn't make anybody mad like my mom and dad I signed whatever it is you sign to say you are the father without a dna test. Now I am out of prison been out 2 years she had been letting me see my son I get married to another women and if it isn't a week after I am married she has me served for child support. I work construction so I don't work all the time. I got like 700.00 behind and she halls me into court. She won't let me see my son now haven't seen him in like 6 months she just gives me the run around. I caught up the payments but what I want to know is how can I establish paternity where if he is my son I can get some visitation and my name put on his birth certificate so he can have my last name? I don't have the money to hire a lawyer either. Sorry this is so long.

since you are already court ordered to pay child support, paternity is already established. any request to do a DNA, the time for that has been long gone.

you need to file for custody/visitation. look up parenting plans for your state.

as far as adding your name. it's a bit late. you can request a hyphen, but don't get your hopes up for an 11 year old. at the age of 18, he might want to remove it.

Paternity has already been established so you don't have to do anything on that issue. Because your son is 11 yrs old it's doubtful that a name change will be done without Mom's agreement, however, the BC can be amended to list you as the father.

What you need to do will be to file for a visitation order.

You can find the forms and other info at www.flcourts.org

You can read the visitation laws in chapter 61 fo the statutes at www.flsenate.gov/STATUTES
