What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington
I am the primary custodian of our 2 year old daughter. My soon to be ex-husband has family nearby, but all my family is on the East Coast. I would like my daughter to develop a healthy relationship with my side of the family as well...how can I present this to the court so that I can travel more freely out of state to take her to see my family more often?

Also, he has evey Wednesday overnight and evey other extended weekend and the wednesday overnights are not working so well, how can I argue this point?

I would highly recommend Arbitration. Having a disinterested party listen to your argument, and place it in the context of your states laws, will give you and the managing conservator the opportunity to choose what is in the best interest of your child.:)

A parenting plan should normally address things like uninterupted vacation plans with both parents to accommodate things like trips to visit family and traveling and holidays etc.. So please take a look at it.

What is the problem with wednesday?

Her MOST IMPORTANT family is her mom and dad. Moving the child away reduces the dad's access to his child to benefit your parents or siblings relationship with kiddo, which is secondary in importance. If dad is an involved father, you will have difficulty making the argument that moving to further your parents relationship with your child is MORE important than your child's relationship with their other parent. Why can't your parents develop a relationship with your child by traveling to you? I know a LOT of couples whose parents don't live "in town" and their kids still have relationships with their grandparents.

Certainly you should be free to travel out of state with your child on your time as should dad. That is different than moving. You should set out periods for each of you to have uninterrupted time for such travel with your child within your parenting plan..
