Relocate from NY to FL

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

We live in New York state, however, my divorce and all of our paperwork took place in Washington state. Within the next two years my husband and my two kids plan to move to Florida. Their biological father still lives in Washington. I know I had to give notice to him prior to moving to New York before. So I need to know if the same rules apply for this state. We plan to keep the visitation the same and I'm hoping for his cooperation but in the past he has been difficult with everything.

My other question is for jurisdiction, would that still be Washington state or am I able to change that to New York since we live here? If I need to give him notice with the correct relocation paperwork I want to make sure I use WA state if need be, or NY state. I would hate to go back to court to file all of this but definitely want to keep it all legal and correct.

If the original order is from Washington, and dad still lives there, Washington retains jurisdiction.

And if he doesn't contest us moving, I would like to keep the same visitation schedule but would obviously need to change the wording to read "Florida" instead of "New York" in our parenting plan? Or is that even necessary, would a simple written agreement signed and notarized by us both work too?

Washington State retains jurisdiction , meaning ANY legal matters are done in Washington State ,in Washington's Court.

A notarized Statement means squat , except maybe permission to relocate the child .

To make it legal ,the order would need to be modified to reflect Fl.

You could have the agreement entered into record , if the other party agrees .
