You Are Guilty

I can't speak for upstate, but in NYC, as long as you haven't pissed off the judge, just about anyone who asks for an 18-B gets one. In fact, I'd say, out of 100 people requesting one, I only saw a judge even ask about the respondent's income 3-4 times (verbally - not even asking for documentary proof), and of those, only 1 didn't get an attorney assigned to them.

There is clearly something further afoot here, Watson.

Interesting for NYC .

See Pg. 11 .

That's why I mentioned " basic " child support matters.

I do agree where Judges sometimes just ask what the income is and does not ask for proof .

That has happened in other Family Court matters.

Well, for child support cases, remember, sometimes you're dealing with a referee or a support magistrate, and not a "real" judge. (They have significantly less power/authority than judges do).

Good point.
Plus since the poster hasn't returned to explain,we have no Idea what the matter is about ,or if in fact this is before a Judge ,or magistrate/hearing examiner .
