tuition reimbursement

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Utah

I've recently graduated from college and had been receiving tuition reimbursement from my employer. Having been unable to use my degree to advance within the company I have found opportunity elsewhere.

My question is this, My contract states that should I chose to leave prior to the two year aniversary of my graduation I owe the company for the reimbursement. However, the contract also states that the company is to develop a career development plan which will be integrated into the annual employee performance planning process---which did not happen

...what is the companies responsibility to me, the employee, for upholding their end of the agreement?

Had the company provided me with the guidance and opportunity I would have been willing to stay.

There's no way we can give you an accurate response without having read your contract in its entirety. (And no, please don't post it here.) You need to take it to an attorney for review.
