What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois
October 2008 I took my ex husband back to court because he had never paid the court ordered amount of child support. He would just pay me whatever he felt like.
My ex husband stop paying any child support in 11/2008.
In July 2009 I received a form in the mail that he had signed. It was a Final and Irrevocable Consent and Surrender of Parental Rights. I spoke to my attorney about it. He spoke to my ex's attorney, she had quit being his attorney. My attorney told me that even though he had signed this that it didn't get him off the hook for child support unless my children were adopted.
In July 2009 my ex also quit his job with the Illinois Department of Corrections.
In August 2009 he supposedly moved to Las Vegas with his girlfriend and her daughter.
In October 2009 I finally got to go before the judge (it only took a year). My ex didn't show up. The judge ordered him to pay over $14000 in back child support.
I got the signed court order in December 2009. I then contacted Illinois child support enfocement. They sent me a bunch of paper work in January 2010. I filled it all out and sent them copies of the divorce papers, the parental rights surrender, and the court order.
I am wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for child support enforcement to find a dead beat dad? He has property here in Illinois. If they can't locate him can they seize the house and sell it to get me my money?
