What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
I recently submitted a claim to my insurance company to cover damage caused by wind to my roof. The insurance agent with whom I spoke estimated the damage to be approximately $1,100.00. I spoke with him on the phone and this estimate was calculated over the phone by the agent. After my deductible, I was told I'd be receiving a check for approximately $600.00. Over the weekend, I had 2 separate contractors estimate the work. Both contractors estimated their total cost (including labor and materials) to be approximately $200. This will leave me with roughly $400 from the insurance company. What am I supposed to do with this money? I surely do not want to commit fraud in any way. Should this money be returned to the company, or is it mine to keep? I'm located in PA
