What is the maximum number of days that a guest can stay in your home before he/she becomes a "tenant" and you are required to follow tenant/landlord law?

how long has your guest been there?

zero days so far - This is for information purposes only (just in case). I ask because I've read posts on here about people not being able to get rid of their guests once it goes sour and then after a certain point I know they become tenants and you are required to abide by more restrictive tenant/landlord laws.

If someone moves in with you, to make your place their home, they are a tenant from moment one.

What you are asking is more complex than a simple less than a certain number of days.

If someone staying with you makes your place their residence, they are a tenant.

If you are going to be having a 'guest' who has no other home, than you MUST get the situation in writing for mutual protection.

Read the landlord / tenant laws of your state before sharing your home with someone who is going to be more than a single overnight guest if they have no home of their own, and 1 week for those who do have a home of their own.
