What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado

I purchased a $1080 dollar camera lens from Adorama Camera through Amazon.com. The lens was defective from the first day I bought it giving intermittent "err01" errors.

3 emails to Adorama have been ignored. Amazon a-z guarantee claim was denied, the reason being Adorama told Amazon I should file a claim under the manufacturer warranty. This means I have to deal with Canon, ship at my cost and end up with a refurbished lens, not a new one.

I think I should be entitled to a refund, am I?

Did you clean the contacts on the lens?

Have you actually spoken to Amazon on the phone? I have managed to get a better result that way a few times.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I cleaned the contacts but the error persists.

Calling is my next step but I'd like to know my rights before I call.

Response from Amazon.

In response to this claim, the seller who fulfilled the order has confirmed that this item is under warranty with the manufacturer.

Please contact the product's manufacturer for assistance with the defective item, per the terms of the item's warranty. Contact information for warranty service should be listed on the item’s packaging.

We will be unable to proceed with your claim unless the warranty status of your item has been verified with the manufacturer. If you are unable to obtain warranty service, please respond directly to this message with the manufacturer's contact information and their response. We will require this information in order to take any further action.

I don't want a refurb lens for the price of new.

I'm surprised Amazon rejected your A-Z claim. As someone who does a lot of business on Amazon i find them to be very customer orientated.

As mentioned, call Amazon up. You have 30 days to return a product on Amazon without reason. If they still deny you, you could always do a chargeback. I would also neg the seller, Adorama is a big company so it may not affect them but some sellers become very helpful once you hit them with a neg in the hopes that you remove it.
