I offered the use of my seat and he refused. I did file an incident report with the local authorities that evening. The sgt. did say he would be happy to provide me with a written statement. I have decided to request visitation modification to include provisions for child seats. (Receiving parent must show proper installation of booster to other parent at time of exchange) (??) I will do that Monday as I will already be in court for support.
The officer also stated that if repeated incidents are reported the judge could consider charging the other parent with child endangerment.
That's a lot of 'could' and 'ifs'.

Thanks for everybody's suggestions.
You can't just "make a request" for a visitation modification during a support hearing. 1) the two aren't related and 2) it would violate dad's right to due process.

Also, that's a whole lot of inviting dad into YOUR life. What happens when, just to be a jerk, he decides that he doesn't think the seat is installed properly and makes you wait around for a deputy to come out and check the installation? I mean, seriously?

If kiddo is in a booster, why not just pick up another one (you can usually get them FREE from the police dept or parents as teachers) and at the next exchange hand it to dad when you hand him kiddo.

Don't offer him YOURS, don't imply that he's not an adequate parent, just silently hand it to him and walk away.

1-No, I know that. I meant I'd file my amendment request then at the clerk's office, since I'm going to be there anyway.

We both have seats. He has two. He was driving a different vehicle and had no seat at the time of exchange. I asked if he had brought his seat, he said yes. I didn't notice until after I exchanged son with Dad. I again asked if he had a seat, he said no, I offered mine, he declined and then sped off. 4 yr old son unbuckled in the front seat of a HD pickup. Standing in the seat at one point.

Regarding amendment, I was thinking more along the lines of having him just show me that there's a seat in there if I ask.
