How do I go about finding a good/fair parenting evaluator? I will going to court soon and pretty sure this will be necessary for both of us.

Not on this. I think this site is amazing and the amount of people that have their minds put to ease due to the generous advise of experienced others I can only hope gets paid back in the end.

I did have another thread, but not on this topic, that I deleted for privacy reasons.

I apologize and will try to keep privacy in mind moving forward so that the thread can remain. That was part of the reason to keep this question general.

As responses were coming and going on the previous thread I exposed too much info, which was my fault.

Why did you delete your thread dealing with the location of Kindergarten for your child?
It doesn't appear there was anything that was so secret as to require it.

Everybody does have their comfort level on privacy. Just an example, look at the latest generation and all the social networking web sites that a lot of people from the older generations do not necessarily embrace. You could consider me a slowly transitioning person from an older generation when it comes down to internet privacy.

I do realize now that I could have managed my privacy differently to prevent what I now know as fo-pa.

I've been doing a lot of reading here and really feel that the members on this site do need to give themselves a pat on the back for helping people through such unfortunate times.

When you say parenting evaluator, do you mean

custody evaluator

home study services?

For a custody evaluator, that you request the court to order, and then pay for it...and (at least here) its a psychologist...

I requested ours (and my ex's attorney agreed) via information I received from two reputable attorneys.

Just call several good attorneys offices and ask what they think. You can request that person perform the custody evaluation, and the other party can either agree or oppose.

Thanks for the advice, it's very helpful. Any other advice like time line I should expect for the custody evaluation leading to a conclusion in court or what to expect during the evaluation would great.
