What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I'm in Iowa, the company is in California. US law only (internet? web offers)

Not sure if this is the right section but here it goes....

About a month ago I had signed up for a satellite service (DirecTV) through a websponsor, the offer was if you complete the offer through their link they will reward you with some virtual money for an online game (which equals to about $200-$300USD or so). Since we were going to cancel cable anyways and was thinking of satellite, we went with this offer instead of Dishnetwork or others because of the high reward it gives.

So I completed the DirecTV order on their link had it installed paid first bill etc...and still no credit from their end. I emailed them at least a dozen times, provided them email/header/ip from DirecTV and everything and all I got was 2 replies stating "We are waiting for advertiser to verify." So I waited and check up every 2 days or so and keep asking and being ignored. Today someone emailed me and told me that they spoke to the advertiser and they said I did not complete it through their offer link so they cannot credit me. I called DirecTV and they have no knowledge of this offer or that they called them to verify anything, so they gave me their web promotion people to call, I called and left a message, no call back yet.

I emailed the customer service guy at the websponsor and told him DTV had not receive a call from you, who did you talk to? He said they do not call DTV they call a different company to verify and track info. So I ask if I can have their phone # so I can provide my info/cookies etc... to them to see if there was some misunderstanding. He told me he cannot give that information out. I asked him then how do I know he actually called to verify? And why can't I have their phone#? He did not respond.

Is he in the right to withhold the phone# from me? When they are accusing me of not completing the offer through their link when I 100% did. I can't have the contact info to the company to verify it myself?

I'm just ticked off, because I feel like I've been tricked into getting this 2-year contract with DTV mainly because of this reward they were giving out.

If anyone can let me know if they can withhold information from me that can verify my claim, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!

Sorry, can't help you if you don't answer the question

These kind of things are tricky. Most of those offers are just scams for webmasters to make money off of their site since they get paid based on either clicks or offers they sold. If they are not crediting you for the rewards I think it is either a scam, or they are not getting compensated on their end.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how that stuff is tracked or even proven. I have participated in pay for click sites though, but as a webmaster, there is no way for you to track it, you rely on the company to track it for you and hopefully not cheat you out of anything.

I would call the place you tried and go up the ladder, trying to find a supervisor or someone that can help you.

Good luck, maybe someone else has more experience or better info.

Thing is both the #s for this company either busy signal (tried 10x at different days/times) or rings and rings and rings and no one answers or rings and rings and rings and then disconnects .

I did however find phone #s to their head customer service guy and the owner, but I think these are their personal/other job numbers. I just want them to be honest, I don't like bugging people over the phone but if they don't give me answers I can verify myself I just don't trust them, since they took 1 month to tell me they cannot credit? It's just so odd that they couldn't verify a week ago, 2 weeks ago since I emailed them every 2 days since I completed the offer etc....but when I started emailing their owner at his other work email, they decided all of a sudden they can verify it in 1 hour and email me back with an answer that I cannot be credited? Seems kinda funny to me. Oh and it seems that this company does this alot to other people, I've seen posts online on how they say they will verify and then say advertiser cannot verify so they cannot credit account when the user completed the offer and sent them screenshots, emails, links etc...One person actually threatened to file a class action lawsuit against them (or actually did or something not sure but they were able to get credited the next day after they sent them that message).

These sorts of deals can take up to 90 days to complete.
Yea some takes that long but this particular one it said in the description that it takes "2 hours" to verify. So it's been 1 month now pretty much and after emailing them every couple days, being ignored basically, out of the blue yesterday (after I had emailed their owner at his other work email, with a "not so happy" email), their head customer service rep emails me back saying he's calling their advertiser now and in 1-2 hours he got an answer that it was not completed? And he refuses to give me info so that I can call and provide them with my information to verify. Seems pretty fishy to me, why they were able to verify now in such a short time when they had almost a month to do it when I was emailing them so many times and they responded they were "waiting".

It's entirely possible that it is alltogether fishy and you were duped into signing up. DirectTV (or maybe it was Dish Network) has gotten in trouble before for relying on shady resellers. You can file a complaint with the BBB (which has no teeth) and the FTC (which may investigate) but other than suing them you might not have any recourse.
