What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? SC

Does the father's name have to appear on the birth certificate in order to collect child support? Or do the laws vary from state to state?

so if the father is not on the birth certificate but has been id'd as the father through DNA can he then be sought to pay child support?

This is just a general question not one geared toward a specific situation. So if it was court ordered than it can be used to compel the father to pay support?

I'm 34 yrs old this isn't homework. Just a what if question.
Oh, why didn't you say that in the first place.

You see the crystal ball handles all the "what if" questions. Crystal was in a really bad mood this morning (hang over from too much celebration over the weekend). When she is good and ready to play the "what if" game, I'll let you know.
