What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Illinois...I am a 17 year old girl wanting to date a 22 year old guy. My mom already agreed to let me date the guy because she has met him and approves of him. The guy doesn't know that I like him or anything but I don't want to say anything to him because I want to make sure it's okay for a 17 year old to date a 22 year old. I wouldn't have sex with the guy or anything. So is it okay for me to date him?
