What is the name of your state Indiana (only U.S. law)

I am having issues canceling with free credit report.com. I have called multiple times and was supposed to be canceled, yet they are still charging me. I was with National city bank and they were taken over by PNC and my debit card # changed and all reoccurring payments should have ceased yet they still charge somehow. I even put a stop payment on the company through the bank and they are even bypassing that somehow (is that legal?)..

How can they be charging me when I only gave them my card number? Is it legal for a company to get your checking account # from a debit card and charge directly when you only gave a card #.

Today I sent a complaint to the bbb so hopefully that stops them, if not is there any legal action I can take against this scam of a company?

**A: have you sent anything to them and your bank in writing disputing the charges?

Looks like since I involved the BBB they got the message and ended service. (by the way freecreditrepot.com has a D rating on bbb.org)

To quote them "We're sorry to see you go! This email confirms that we have received your request to cancel your FCR® Credit Monitoring membership. No further charges will be applied to your credit card. " But I will see next month and there is no way they could charge my card since it is a different bank and card #. If they do not stop next month I will be seeing them in court since I have a conformation email.

Yes I have printouts from the bank showing stop payment on them and disputing the charges. Last month it was freecreditreport.com this month it was info.freecreditreport.com like AOL used to do when they got sued in a class action for not canceling service and you had to change accounts to get them to stop charging after a stop payment and supposedly canceling by calling. And no I have never sent them anything by mail since I did not know I should and only had called. Yet the people on the phones never noted me as calling. I worked in a tech support for a cable company and I know how easy it is to not note a call by a customer, just close the account.

If anyone reading this has the same issues get the bbb.org involved and they should stop (if not sue these thieves for as much as possible for illegal practice), and if you are thinking of getting an account don't you can get a truly free credit report yearly.
