State of CA. I heard that a new law from Obama is in place now so that if my child goes to College that I would have to pay child support until the age of 22 not 18. Is there any truth to this?

Jeff:confused:What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

I'm sorry, is Obama now the CA legislature?

No? Then how would he be making laws to affect your child support? It's not a FEDERAL order.

In LOTS of states, the age of majority for child support purposes is 22 as long as the kid is enrolled in college. So far, the USSC has refused to weigh in on the Constitutionality of that particular thing (forcing divorced parents to financially support adult children when married parents cannot be forced to).

Jeff, Family Law is a state law creature.
Each state codifies their own version of Family Law (although some portions were forced (via $) upon each state by the Feds - such as the IV-D program, UIFSA, and UCCJEA). Any change to the Ca Family Code has to be voted on by the Ca legislature.

The great state of California (and those watchdogs of state's rights) will not allow any Federal Executive to preempt their state laws and promulgate that Executive's own version of a national Family Law.

Look to your California legislature for any change of California law regarding child support.
I think Arnold (and your legislature) is too busy right now to deal with a change in child support laws.

No, the new health care law does not require parents to cover children to age 26. The new health care law requires an insurance carrier to allow parents to cover their children to age 26 in some circumstances.

See, now there's a huge difference between what you've said - which is the reality - and what aldaron said.

But still - and this is to aldaron - that wasn't OP's question anyway ;)

I heard that Obama passed a law (have these people never SEEN Schoolhouse Rock?) that says that stores have to let people use their foodstamps to buy clothes!

AND I heard that Obama has single-handedly destroyed any chance that my generation has at receiving Social Security. (Never mind that my Gramma told me that there wouldn't be any Social Security for my generation back in 1980).
