What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Utah

My son who is almost 18 and is still in juvenile system has to have Sassi drug and alcohol evaluation submitted to the court by Jan 3 2011 with any recommendations for counseling. It says said parent is responsible for this and even has a new court date of Jan 3 2011 and says all parties shall attend or lose license or forfeit any owed tax return by the state. Well my son turns 18 Dec 15 2010 which is before the court date and due date for these items. Why do I have to be there or provide these things if I am kicking him out of my house on his 18th birthday on Dec 15 2010? I want to blow this court order off and he can go there by himself and he can get his own evaluation and counseling and pay for them himself. This juvenile system is weird here. They can keep a kid in the juvenile system til 21 which means they can still go to the adult jail but the record can stay juvenile status up til 21. Please advise if I am responsible or not Thank You.

If you have a court order to perform, you better perform. Even though he will be 18 at the time of the hearing, the judge has already set expectations that he expects to be followed. If you don't then you already know what will happen.

The CO was placed at the time your child was a minor. You are ordered to provide the COURT ORDERED test. If you fail to, you may face contempt charges, fines and or jail time.

Then expect to lose your license and/or your state tax return. Have fun with that!
