Agreed in mediation

In the past, when we went to mediation, and we agreed on something, they printed out a paper that showed what we agreed on and we each signed it.

Had mediation yesterday, we came to an agreement about a couple things, schedule changes, and something about soccer practices. But, they never had me sign anything (I should have asked). I am expecting the ex to back out and say its not valid, so before that happens, I was wondering if our agreement is valid. Court hearing isn't for another month. Does the court house have it on record with the mediator?

No, it's not valid until a judge signs off.

The normal process is that once you've agreed to things in mediation, one of you has to write up the agreement and submit it to the court for approval. But you can withdraw your approval at any time before you submit it to the judge.

If there are records of what was agreed to, I would write it up and submit it to the judge. STBX can still disagree, but that puts him/her in the position of explaining why.

CA is a little different in that some mediators make recommendations to the court. That may be what is going to happen here.

My exp in CA is that when there is agreement in mediation...its is noted in the recommendations mailed to each parties attorneys, and to the judge. I have never signed anything but fortunately have not been in court for almost 4 years, so perhaps its changed since then.
