Two people signed on the lease, Mike and Jane. Jane has a friend, Silvia, that has a very bad relationship with Mike. Mike doesn't want to see Silvia in the house. Can he legally prevent her to come, even if Jane wants her to come? And if he can not legally prevent her to come, does he have the right to be released by the landlord from the lease because he can not stand this guest?

Manners and sensitivity are not legal issues. This is a relationship problem - btw the couple. It does not concern the landlord.

As said above; this is not a landlord problem. LL's should not be involve in the petty affairs of their tenants. I'm thinking Mike is a control freak that knows that while Jane has a friend he cannot totally control Jane. There is probably more to this story than is being depicted here.

Mikey doesn't like it.

Mike can tell Jane to tell Silvia to take Mike's place as a roommate. Have Silvia fill out a application and submit to the landlord along with Mike's 30 day notice of intention to vacate. As long as Silvia meets the landlords criteria it shouldn't be a problem with her replacing Mike on the lease.

What that isn't what you wanted Mike? You just wanted Silvia to disappear? Life is full of compromises. Better get use to it. Also be careful what you wish for.
