What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa

A detective was questioning my 13yr old. I was not home to give permission.
Not sure if my wife really knew what to d.
He basically bullied him into confessing to something , that he still says he didnt do.
He said, he wouldnt let him say anything unless its what the detective wanted to hear.
Did not once ask my son to tell what he knew, just came in assuming my son was guilty.

Help

has he been arrested or charged?

I would tell him to not say anything else to anybody about whatever this is.

A lawyer would be the next step.

No arrest or charge I know of.
Its a DHS investigation.
what he is being accused of, the detective said it sounds consensual.

Meanwhile, we sit here in the dark, not knowing whats next.

.
Consensual? Tome, consensual suggests either there is a sado-masochism club after school or this involves sex. If so, I would have to consult the statutes to be sure but I strongly suspect a child around the age of your child is not capable of consenting to sex.

I repeat; he talks to nobody from here on out without the aid of a lawyer. You or mother do not speak with anybody concerning this without the aid of a lawyer.

You cannot undue harm caused by saying things that should not have been said.
