My child was exploited

My childs (former) god mother, whom ive known for years, I just found out today has been trying to pass off my child as her own. Not only did she tell another man it was his baby but they are currently in court proceedings for custody of my child whom they have given their own name!!!!! I found out they even swabbed my daughter for dna and she has been taken to see this man and his family on a reg basis when her godmother has her. Keep in mind this is not a foster type situation. My child resides with me and her father. Her godmother does spend a lot of time with her but is now obviously living a separate life. This has obviously, to and extent i cannot describe, violated and hurt my child, me, and my childs father but now there is another family who, for a year now (my child turned 1 in september), have believed this child to be theirs as well. If anyone has any advice regarding what actions or charges can be taken against this woman anything is appreciated. As devastating as this is for me to know that another man and people i dont know have been with my child on a reg basis, I cant imagine what this other family is going through now also knowing the truth so any additional advice that may help them as well would be great as neither of us are in a position to hire a family law attny. I would suggest that you not allow the "Godmother" any further access to your child.

So - this legal stranger is involved in a custody battle with another legal stranger regarding YOUR child?

And you haven't simply said, "Hey - here's her birth certificate. That's my kid. Please ask this woman and this guy what proof they have that my kid is theirs"? yet?

Trust me- this is all still surreal to me at this point.... they have a court date on dec 21st so im ignoring her at the moment and plan on showing up at the court date. The reasoning for the courtdate is that the orig dna results were inconclusive and possibly tampered with IMAGINE THAT..... But yes her former godmother Juanita has my daughter Broolynne in court proceedings to determine custody btwn her and this man. I feel like im on a lifetime movie.

She somehow created a fake birth certificate and gave her the name moriah. Which obviously can be proven fraudulent but this alter life she created she did her researched and knows what she was doing..... She just wasnt prepared for this to be such a small world

Then I suggest you seek the advice of a local attorney. Nobody here can help you.

Perhaps you should stop by the police station and ask to speak to somebody about this. If she is attempting to get child support or something of value based on false pretenses, they may take interest in criminal charges.

Your story has so many oddities within that it simply goes beyond the scope of an internet forum.

And really - it's Saturday night. What were you doing all day yesterday about this? Because you certainly didn't find out about this for the first time today.

Seek local counsel first thing Monday morning.

....you've been TOLD what to do.

Seek the advice of local counsel, and/or contact local police.

I have come across many responses on other questions that people do have knowledge and are able to give TRUE legal advice.... so maybe its not im in the wrong place... maybe im getting responses from the wrong PEOPLE.... maybe YOU and others imparticularly should just not respond to things you dont have real ADVICE on... since that is what the site was designed for.
