What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ca

Hi everyone.. My girlfriend works at a place where she has to work a spilt shift. Now a while back she says she read something about if people work split shifts they are supposed to get compensated a different wage.. True or false?

No, not a different hourly rate, but an additional hour of pay.

This is the IWC for most types of businesses. What type of business does she work for, there may be one more applicable.

See Section 2 for the definition and Section 4 for the pay requirement.

Then that Wage Order would apply.

Okay but would she receive back pay or would it only be in effect after she received the paper work?

And also she told me that her boss said that they were only gonna pay the ones that sued to start the class action suit and only pay others if they complain.

She can file a claim with the DLSE for back pay and not join the class action suit if she wants to; her decision.

How to file a wage claim

She received a class action notice from her employer a while ago, but has yet to see any money from it. But wouldn't she be paid even if she doesn't say anything about it since it was a lawsuit or does she have to respond to the letter?
