What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arkansas

I want to know if my daughter, aged 13 years, is committing a crime by producing child pornography. I was unaware (sadly) she exposed her nude self before mirrors in the past, generating an image of her unclothed body in the process. From my understanding, such images, virtual or real, are child pornography. Can anyone shed any light on this? What am I supposed to do if my daughter continues to break the law?

...what are YOU doing to actually parent your child and stop her from doing this?

By itself, a nude photo of her in the mirror taken on her camera or phone is not necessarily going to constitute unlawful porn. The elements of this offense generally include more than merely a nude image.

What has she done with the image?

And why would a discussion of the issue lead to YOUR name being on a sexual predator list?

Seriously? You don't know how to stop this? Take the flippin' mirrors out of her room, take away her phone, take away her computer, take the door off her room, and take away the hooker clothes. How's THAT for a start? Really. Take control of your child. You AND Mom. Neither of you are parenting properly.

This is what I need to know. I know she's my daughter, but if she is a criminal then I will take a specific course of action. This is intolerable. If it is not, we will discipline her appropriately and implement the aforementioned suggestions.

Holy crap, Dad - whether or not she's technically being a criminal is irrelevant. What's she's doing generally has serious consequences - rumors at school, crappy self-esteem when the pic she sends to that one special guy escapes to everyone else's cell phone (because it WILL), etc - outside of the law too. It's not for children (and she is a child!!!!) to be doing. Period.

Confiscate everything she owns, dress her as a nun and yank the door off the hinges.

And I'm interested who the h*** she's making these pics for? I can almost guarantee it's not for her eyes only. Eesh.

Take. Stuff. Away. Now.

It is inappropriate even if only for her own bizarre purposes.

If she took the photos for herself, has them on her own camera and has not shown them to anyone, it is unlikely that any criminal charges could be brought. But, I strongly suspect that she will have passed them around or at least shown her friends and THAT could be a crime.

The behavior needs to stop.

No phone or camera, no computer cam, etc.

can anybody say "TROLL"

Read the post again. There is no mention of camera's, computers, cellphones, or cellphone cameras. The girl "generated an image" by standing in front of a mirror. The guy is nutcase or a troll.

That would explain why he's concerned about being on a sexual predator list - if he's spying on her while she's changing.
