What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California......
My friend has a 14yr old son that is out of control. He wants to live with another family and is doing everything in his power to break up his parents.
He is physically and verbally abusive to his mom for no other reason. He is the one that brought up the subject of living with another family. His mother is at her wits end and is ready to let him go.The boys probation officer and social services won't help them to do this.

My question is:What kind of attorney do they need, and is this allowable in the sate of California?

You would need a celebrity lawyer, because that aint gonna happen. unless the boy is a huge celebrity making tons of money.

What kind of parent just pawns their bad child onto someone else?

Tisk tisk.

Based on what you have posted, he is not a candidate for emancipation. Nor does emancipation mean sending him to live with someone else.

While he's not going to be emancipated, it's possible that his legal parent/s can transfer custody or guardianship to another family.

This of course assumes that the other family would be willing to do so, and it would also depend on exactly how and why social services are involved already and the circumstances surrounding his criminal record.

An attorney would be Mom's best bet.

He is too young for emancipation and is not a good candidate. Emancipation requires maturity and an ability to support one's self, not defiance and dependence.

Mom can allow him to live with someone else if she wants to, but she will remain legally responsible for him. Perhaps mom needs to engage in a little tough love. Removing everything he owns, giving him a single set of clothes, and allowing a mattress on the floor to sleep on might be a good start. he can earn the rest back.

Yes!

If Mom wishes, she can google "Garden of Eden parenting", or similar. :)
