What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL

My husband and I have decided to part ways. I'm dealing with a lot, as we have 3 children together. I have a history of depression and am concerned that if I seek medical help he will be able to use it against me in determining custody.

At this point his job requires him being gone for weeks at a time, and he can not bring the children with him. Not sure if that matters or not. We agreed that I would keep the children in our marital home so that they can continue with some sense of normalcy. I just don't want him to be able to use my emotional/mental issues against me & take our kids away. I am not a danger to them, nor am I suicidal, but I've seen some shady things happen in divorces.

Thoughts?

Go get treatment. A parent that is willing to treat a disorder is not looked down on by the court. A parent who refuses to utilize available treatment is the one that jeopardizes the outcome.

That was what i thought, but wanted to get verification. Thank you.

I just want what's best for our children, and if mommy's not quite right then they won't be either.

That can be true with (or without) depression. Go to the doctor. Get a physical and then make an appointment with several lawyers to look at all the options.

Maybe this is what you need to turn that all around. I know, I know, I hated it when people told me that, but it is true. Get healthy and get smart then you will be able to catch those shady things before they become issues.

I have an appointment with a doctor for Wednesday to get my depression meds adjusted so that I can get better. I appreciate all the help here. :)
