If I had a dollar for every time I've carried (my hips are apparently made for the purpose!) child/ren + shopping without the benefit of a car or anything other than my poor aching feet...

..heck, I wouldn't be buying lottery tickets.

There's also the football hold. And the shoulder toss. And the shoulder sitting hold. Works off that extra baby fat that never seems to come off otherwise.

Of course these days, the kids have more cushioning to make for a much more comfy ride, but heck. What can ya do?

It why grandparents are loved. So much more cushion. Which scares me. Cuz I'm more cushiony now, that I have a teenager.

Did you ever try to transport an infant and a case of formula? If the OP had WIC, she'd have to buy it by the case.

I raised a child while having to rely on public transportation. It was a challenge. When it was too cold (I also lived in Iowa at the time) I'd have to carry him under my coat.

But I did it.

But I did it.

I've had to transport more infants with shopping, formula and medical supplies all at once - WITHOUT either a car OR public transport - than you can possibly imagine.

So don't come back here and imply that I don't "know".

I did that in an airport in NM. Had several of the curtosey cars speed by me and not one person offered to help. And my son was asleep over my shoulder. Almost missed my connection. The attendant at the gate was the only one that offered to take my bags and have another person help with the car seat.

Does two kids (infant in a sling, toddler in a backpack), two suitcases and a diaper bag count? Especially if I include that it was to change terminals between flights in the middle of the night at DFW?
