Got into a fight what is next?

First off I'm 15 and in HS, I haven't been in trouble with the law before no my record is clean.

Well last friday this kid in my math class who has been annoying for about 3 months by pushing me in the hallways and I simply keep walking ignoring the little prick. So today in math I'm getting my books out of my bag and he comes up and sticks his hand out like he wants a hand shake so I stick my hand out hoping he will go away after and he hits me in stomach, I ost my breathe for a second and I come back and knee him in the balls out of pure rage and he flys back and come back swinging and I beat the living crap out of him and he ends up getting 7 stitches under his eye. Also another kid re-ingured him arm trying to break up the fight and the officer said he could press charges and what not but he said nothing about the kid that beat me up. My questions are could the kid I beat up press charges even though he started it and has been bullying me for the past couple of months and what should I expect as a punishment from the judge? I got my summons later this month. Also the principals and the school resource officer said that they are on my side b/c the kid has been technically bullying me.. So what should I expect from the judge?

They haven't said yet. But if the kid that has been bullying me charges me for the stitches he gets do you personally think I would have to pay? Hes the one who started it.

Again, your response went far beyond that of "self defense". Yes, you need an attorney.

A summons to court is the beginning of a legal proceeding. If you injured him to the point of his needing stitches, then it is likely you face criminal charges.

Understand that it is possible the other kid could be charged as well, or that only he will be charged - who knows? A lot will depend on what the other witnesses say. His past bullying ain't gonna help much of people only saw you doing the beat down on him.

Talk to mom and dad about at least consulting an attorney.

Perhaps they will change their minds when the severity of your attack and the subsequent legal consequences become clear.

Okay ... then, as pointed out, why do you have a summons?

The prosecutor may have a different idea. Hence the reason you need to speak with an attorney.

If mom and dad do not want an attorney, that's their bad. You could be prosecuted. You could also be sued for damages to the other child. His family, or his parents' insurance company, may come after you for any medical expenses or other damages.

Before you go into any sort of court situation, rethink your language about this incident.

"I beat the crap out of him" may sound nifty, but seriously, how many licks were thrown? After you kneed him, did he go down, were you hitting him while he was down? Did he come back at you? Did he hit you any more times? You hit him in the face how many times? Most fights do not really have many licks thrown, and be careful of the semantics of the language you use. If you do get to have an attorney, they will be talking to you about what to say and what not to say.

Stop talking to other people, including school officials, your friends, etc about this.

But what we are interested in is as someone said, is what does the summons say?
