By the way, kid... I have been making that bet for over a decade.

Never, not once, have I had to write a check.

Okay, seniors. Let's start the pool.

How many attorneys will have to laugh in Jr.'s face before he realizes that he can never come back to this website?

I am guessing 3. Anyone else?

At the end of the day, OP, your girl's parents hold all the cards. If they say you can't see her? Your run the risk of legal action if you try. And no judge is going to let you date this girl w/o her parents' permission.

Your choice is to step back and wait for her to turn 18, or move on. It's that simple.

Dibs on "one".

No. Scratch that. None. He knows you're right. He's just too childish to admit it, and all this "you old farts are wrong" bravado is just belligerent nonsense. He's not going to call a lawyer. At best, he might go to ask.com and find one person that agrees with him and come back to offer that as "proof" but I don't think he's that dumb. He's no different from the countless other posters we've seen like this. He'll puff his chest out for a little while longer, then we'll never see him again.

Oh stealthy... that is OLD person thinking.

He is smarter and more determined than any other man that has ever wanted to date a child in direct opposition to her parents' wishes.

I'm just wondering why our Wealthy Little Man is bothering with a board like "FREE Advice".
Because I don't want to spend money on something I could maybe get for free if I don't need to.

If it comes down to it, I'll drain my bank account to win. I really don't care.

You all may think I'm a "predator", but that's okay. You don't have any personal involvement in this. I can say I really do care about her till I'm blue in the face. She's wanted to run away, quit certain activities, even drop out of school for me. I tell her no, all the time.

It's not a matter of owning her, it's a matter of being with her. I wish the difference was visible. Especially to cyjeff. But I guess I'll be doomed to this bias everyday of my life till she's 18.

So be it.

Bottom line. Her mother has the power to have you ordered to stay away from her, no matter what. You can drain your bank account, you can call every lawyer in the state, you can click Glenda's sparkly red shoes and blow out all the candles on your birthday cake, and it's still not going to happen. Believe it or not. Argue with us all you want. Google 'til you're blue in the face. That's it.

When she's 18 she can do as she pleases and you can be together. If she's not too old for you by then.

You really don't get it, do you?

Where has anyone said that you don't care about her? No one has said that. We know you do, and we know that you feel it's real. We've all been 17, kid. And I'm sorry if you take offense at that, but it's what you are. No matter how mature you feel you are.

But the law does not say, as long as you really care about each other it's all right and she can disobey her parents. The law says that regardless of anything, Mom and Dad get to make the rules. The law does not give you ANY kind of rights until your girlfriend is 18. Then, if you still feel the same way, have at it. But no matter how much you try to make this a bias against you, it's not. It's simply what the law says.

That's fine and dandy, I'll still find a way around it, even if I don't need to take it to a law level. I'll figure it out.

And yes, Cyjeff was convinced I was trying to... mold her? I think that means make her my pet or something? I'm not sure, but it's a stupid assumption from someone that just wants to be happy and make another person happy.

Stop thinking rationally. There's always a loophole, a way around something. I'll figure it out, I don't care how immature that makes me sound.

Thank you for trying to help though, but I can see this isn't working. I apologize for any stupidity I brought to this thread. I'm just testy, anxious, and quite frankly a little terrified.

You're referring to the child versus a hooker/sex slave, right?

And Mom will file for a restraining order and you will go to jail for 'trying to figure a way around' the law. Then, you will have a harder time getting into college, getting a job, getting a house, a car....

You could spend millions ... the law is not on your side. You do not have ANY right to date her, she does not have ANY legal right to date you, and you have no legal ability to usurp mom's authority.

But, it's nothing but bravado since no attorney would take such a case because they'd know it would result in censure from the court for wasting their time.

Sure. The way around it is to potentially break the law. If mom doesn't take any action, she can run around with you til the cows come home. Legally, if she does take action, you could be in trouble ... if you are aiding her or encouraging her in her disobeying you. Likewise, if you two are engaging in any adult type funny business, you can also be committing one or more criminal offenses. So, keep that in mind when you feel that biological urge come on.

Shhh... I got 5 grand on this.

Lawyers HATE to be laughed out of court....and that assumes that a judge will even allow it to be heard.

I figure he will spend a few hundred on fees. Maybe even finds a slimy attorney that offers to try for a few thousand.

Outcome is the same.

An expensive lesson sticks.

Look... I have a 19yo son. Just around the time he turned 18, he was dating a 16yo girl who was WILD for him. Loved him - Truly, Madly, Deeply. Her Dad said no. Actually, not *just* no. Hell no. Hell to the bells no. Hell to the "put your mother on the phone, son - I wanna talk to her" no. It was made very clear that if my boy didn't back off and leave her alone, the authorities would be involved. So I had a sit-down with him and told him that he continued with this girl at his own peril. He was smart. He looked at her, and he looked at his future. And he walked away. Now, she was 16 - perfectly legal to be sexually involved in our state. But not to be in any way involved without her parents' consent.

If you REALLY love her, you will wait on the sidelines until she's 18. But...
