I was camping with two friends (ages 20 and 21) towards the end of January in Wisconsin. Around 5pm, a ranger pulled up and began to question us. Neither of my friends had been drinking, but I had a full glass of wine next to my chair. I am 20, but never having bad encounter with police I felt no need to lie about the content of my cup when he asked. After this he was not subtle in his approach, he was trying to catch us in a lie. However since none of us were lieing, this task was impossible. He began to bombard us, saying he had complaints about us and trying to get us to admit to events that didn't happen. He even made a very degrading comment regarding the sexual motives of my 21 year old friend. None of us were breathalyzed, despite asking him to do so. We were all very cooperative.

Long story short--I was given a underage drinking ticket. It is a $ 263.50 ticket that reads, "125.07(4)(b) Underage Drinking-Possess-17-20 (1st)".

I have plead not guilty. I am just curious as to what I can expect on my next court date? Also is the amount of the ticket correct? I did a bit of research and it seems high for a 1st offense. Lastly I am curious if it matters that there was a 21 year old there that the ranger did not ticket, even though he said the alcohol was his? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Sounds like you confessed to poss. If you choose not to mail in ticket with $ and go before the judge ask him about the fine amount. goodluck.

You confessed. If you try to change your story now, you could add perjury to your list of crimes.

Just pay the fine and be done with it (and stop drinking in public places).
